Le Petanque, Mornington Peninsula

Mornington Peninsula is such a beautiful and magnificent destination. It is home to some of the country's most popular beaches, beautiful sceneries and contains many fantastic places to eat.  On a recent trip, we had lunch at a pretty winery restaurant, Le Petanque with fantastic views over vineyards and olive groves.

Autumn Menu

Enjoy the smooth relaxed atmosphere, spectacular views and the flavours of Southern France cuisine at Le Petanque.

Amuse Bouche of Salmon and Blini

Nom! Nom!

Squid Ink Risotto, Tiger Prawns, Pippis, House Smoked Mussels, Shellfish Bisque Emulsion, Almond, Sesame Tuile
I was incredibly jealous of those who had this dish as it looked & smelled amazing.

Spanner Crab, Red Quinoa Seeds, Broccoli, Watermelon, Cantaloupe, Walnut Remoulade
I was a bit disappointed with this dish it was bland and under-seasoned.

Gippsland Rabbit Terrine, Pancetta, Prune, Pistachio, Rabbit Rillette, Onion Marmalade, Cornichos and Toasted Ciabatta
Hubby had this rabbit terrine and was fantastic.

Honey Glazed Otway Pork Belly, Spanner Crab, Tarragon, Baby Turnip, Shitake Mushroom and preserved Lemon Jus

King George Whiting Fillet, Fennel Mousseline, Baby Carrots, Mount Martha's Mussels, Celery, Artichoke Barigoule
Another dish I wasn't too happy about...

Not just one, two nor three but NINE fish bones! Imagine if I choked on one of the bones what would have happened? I pointed it out to the waiter who didn't say anything and walked away. No apologies whatsoever from the kitchen, they just ignored  us. I wasn't quite impressed in the way one expects from a hatted restaurant. Sadly disappointed in the experience.

Mixed Leaf Salad and Herbed Kipfler Potatoes

Saffron Poached Pear, Pistachio Arancini, Olive Oil Ice Cream, Yoghurt Sorbet, Pomegranate, Cardamon
Dessert tasted and looked beautiful and was definitely a highlight of my meal.

Charming cottage

One of Mornington's most iconic beaches. Mills Beach is lined with one of the best collections of bathing boxes on the peninsula.

Ashcombe Maze and Lavender Gardens is home to Australia's oldest & largest Hedge Maze,  the Lavender Labyrinth and the world's first circular Rose Maze.

Can't get enough of strawberries? Why not spend a delicious day out at Sunny Ridge Strawberry Farm and pick some sweet and juicy strawberries? Nom!
