Palitaw (Sweet Rice Dumplings with Coconut & Roasted Sesame Seeds)

I finally learnt how to make palitaw! I never realised that these could be so easy to make. Now I can make them anytime I want.
Palitaw is one of my favourite Filipino delicacies. They can be
eaten as snack or dessert.
They are small, flat, sweet rice cakes made of ground glutinous rice coated with grated coconut, sugar and sesame seeds
.

2 cups glutinous rice flour
½ cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
½ cup sesame seeds, roasted
1 cup grated coconut

* Combine glutinous rice flour with water and mix thoroughly until a dough is formed.
* With floured hands shape dough into a ball-shaped figure and flatten with the palm of your hands.
* Boil water in a cooking pot then drop the dough one at a time.
* When the dough starts to float, remove them from the pot and set it aside allowing water to drip.
* Combine sugar and roasted sesame seeds then mix well.
* Roll the rice cake in grated coconut then in the sugar-sesame seed mixture.

 Sweet and chewy Palitaw. Yum!

  1. Yumm, this is a big childhood fave of mine. My mum used to make them and we would take them on picnics but I've never made them myself before. Definitely going to give this a try, thanks for sharing!
