Lin Heung Tea House 蓮香樓, Central, Hong Kong

Lin Heung must be one of the oldest tea houses in Hong Kong. When you arrive, do not wait to be seated just walk in and find yourself a seat or wait behind diners until they leave. Also expect other people to do the same with you. On our visit, the place was packed with local people who were mostly elderly Chinese men and women drinking teas, talking loudly and enjoying their dim sum while some were reading newspapers. Dim sum is served breakfast and lunch on traditional trolleys. Service is almost non-existent. I pretty much expected this so that wasn't really an issue for us. It is what it is. Now we move on to the food, their traditional dim sum was delicious and authentic and that's what makes this restaurant so popular among the locals. So if you're brave enough to fight for your own table and your way to the trolley why not give this place a go? Enjoy dim sum the old skool way because old is cool.

Lin Heung literally means fragrant lotus hence brightly coloured lotus flowers are printed
on these bowls, spoons and cups.

It is customary for Cantonese to sanitize their chopsticks, tea cups and bowls
in extremely hot tea at the table while enjoying dim sum.
