Porteño, Surry Hills

A bit of advice that I got before going to Porteño: Arrive before opening and wait outside to make sure you won't miss out on a table. No, they don't take bookings unless it's for a group of five or more. I dread standing in long queues so the food at Porteño had to be worth it. We arrived at 5:40pm and already there were two couples waiting ahead of us.

Finally at 6pm, the doors swung open. Oh, how I love the place! It was gorgeous! The main attractions were the roast suckling pig and the roast lamb. I was told to order this as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Asado Grill (Parrilla or Open Fire)

                                           PAN DE CASA
House Baked Bread with Olive Oil & Pork Liver Pate
Chimichurri and Tomato Salsa for the Roast Lamb

                                           CEVICHE PERUANO
Kingfish Ceviche, Corn, Cucumber, Sweet Potato and Bottarga

EMPANADA DE CARNE Beef Empanada and
EMPANADA DE BROCCOLI Broccoli and Ricotta Empanada

These empanadas were so delicious and moist inside. I actually liked the combination of broccoli and ricotta.

                                            CHORIZO PORTEÑO
                                           Housemade Pork Sausage

CABALLA AHUMADA CON PALMITOS Y SALSA GOLF
Smoked Mackerel, Palm Heart, Avocado & Pickled Celery

                                           CORDERO A LA CRUZ
8 hour Woodfired Free Range Lamb

The meat was so tender and I loved it more with the chimichurri.

                                          REPOLLITOS DE BRUSELA FRITO
Crispy Fried Brussels Sprouts with Lentils and Mint

I'm not a huge fan of brussels sprouts but these brussels sprouts were to die for! I promised myself that I have to cook these at home.  Found the recipe and here it is!  http://gourmettraveller.com.au/crisp-brussels-sprouts-with-lentils.htm

                                          POSTRE CHAJA
                                         South American Style Pavlova

YUM!
