Cooking Demo with Jay Huxley and his Warm Balsamic Strawberries

I have recently attended a cooking demonstration by Jay Huxley (MasterChef Australia 2011 Contestant) during a Cookbook Launch "Love Your Leftovers" presented by Holroyd City Council. Jay cooked four dishes and for dessert he made Warm Balsamic Strawberries which was absolutely delicious. Everyone loved it! I can't wait to make some at home. Yum!

So here's my version of this super quick and warming dessert!

Melt butter in a medium pan over medium heat. Add the strawberry halves, brown sugar or honey, rum and balsamic vinegar.
Cook until the strawberries are heated through and turned ruby red but not soft.
Place strawberries into dessert bowls.
Place dollops of cream over the strawberries and drizzle with the syrup. You can also try serving them with ice cream.
Sprinkle with mint leaves.

When I was a kid I was always told to finish whatever was on my plate. One of the things I hate is throwing away food while millions of people in this world don't have enough to eat. Throwing away food is like throwing away money and that's not cool. Did you also know that food waste affects our environment in many ways? For instance, it contributes directly to climate change. How sad is that?
This cookbook is all about using up what you have on hand.
If you want a copy of this cookbook contact Holroyd City Council on 9840 9840 for more information.
Let's all waste less food, save money and our environment.
