How exciting to finally have a food festival held in The Hills. The first ever Hills Food Festival was on for 3 days at The Australian Hotel and Brewery in Rouse Hill a few weeks ago. Some of Sydney's best food trucks were brought to The Hills including, Knafeh, Gelato Messina, Cedars Street Food, Bao Stop, Let's Do Yum Cha, the Bella Shack, Happy as Larry and some pop up bars. With free entry, live entertainment and heaps of activities for the kids,
it was definitely something I'm glad I didn't miss.
In truth, it is Gelato Messina's ice cream I really came here for. Their ice cream is hailed as the best in Sydney so I wanted to try all 4 flavours but unfortunately they have already run out of the other two. Now it was down to Faux Pho and Black Forest Bisque. Out of the two, Faux Pho is more to my liking. Although I found the taste (coconut and lemongrass) to be leaning more towards the flavours of Thai food than a Vietnamese pho. Apart from the name, Faux Pho was like little bites of heaven for me and I especially like the marshmallows at the buttom. Delicious!
The only downside with this festival was the parking. It was horrendous! There wasn't enough parking spaces.
If parking will still be like this next time, I highly doubt I will be returning. Unless, Gelato Messina is.
