Tousuiro (Homemade Tofu Restaurant), Kiyamachi, Kyoto

Kyoto is well known for its tofu. If you wanted to experience tofu ryori (tofu cuisine) in a traditional ryotei setting then try Tousuiro. This restaurant specialises in homemade tofu cuisine and serves them in kaiseki ryori-style (traditional Japanese multi-course haute cuisine).
It's a unique and delicious way of experiencing tofu in all its forms.

Fushimi Inari Taisha is a Shinto shrine dedicated to Inari,
the god of rice, sake and prosperity.

The Yasaka Shrine (Yasakajinja), also known as the Gion Shrine,
is a Shinto shrine in the Gion District of Kyoto.

Prayers and messages for the kami written on wooden plaques
 in this case small torii.

Kyoto, once the capital of Japan never ceases to amaze.

We had a quick lunch at Isetan's department food floor or "depachika"
located on levels B1 and B2.

These are amazing!

Seriously? Melon approximately A$108 each and Cherry Tomatoes at A$194 a box?!?

Just a tip for travellers, places to exchange money are extremely difficult to find in Japan.
We found this money exchange machine at the ground floor level of Isetan Department Store just beside the entrance and surprise surprise we found yet another one in our hotel (Rihga Royal Hotel).

Continued... Day Trip to Arashiyama (Kyoto) 3 of 3

Here's your chance to get up close and personal with these Japanese wild monkeys
in Iwatayama Monkey Park. At least 170 of them roam freely in this park.
To reach the top, one must walk up approximately 150 steps that takes around 30 minutes.
The hike up the mountain well worth the trip!

Cheeky monkeys waiting to be fed.

Don't forget to get your brochure stamped and
buy yourself some monkey food for JPY 100 a pack.
Now let's start feeding the monkeys!

Monkey lollies!

Some really good views of Kyoto from the top of the mountain.

Stopped for a quick lunch at this restaurant, sorry I do not have it's English name.
It's located near Oigawa River just before you cross the bridge to Monkey Park.

Choose your order and pay for the tickets.
Grab yourself a table and wait to be served.
