Selamat Datang ke Malaysian Festival!

Malaysia festival also known as MFest is back celebrating a melting pot of culture
in its new location at Pyrmont Bay Park this year.  
It is an annual community and cultural festival organised by 
the Malaysian student community of Sydney. 

We enjoyed a day of Malaysia with delicious authentic Malaysian food, colourful cultural perfomances, 
experienced hands-on traditional games, batik painting and chinese calligraphy.

Congkak is a mancala game of Malay origin played in South East Asian countries. 

I loved playing this when I was a kid. We call it "sungka" in the Philippines.

Malaysia Truly Asia!

Sedap Malaysian Kopitiam, Sydney CBD

"Sedap" means yummy in Malay and the dishes they serve were certainly delicious. 
"Kopitiam" in the other hand means coffee shop in Hokkien (a Chinese dialect).
 Kopitiam serves mainly Malaysian Chinese dishes and are found almost everywhere in Southeast Asia 
particularly in Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia. 

Having been to several kopitiams in Malaysia and Singapore, Sedap definitely made me feel nostalgic.
I need not think twice about eating here because I know 
kopitiam food would surely make my hungry tummy very happy.

Upon entering the restaurant, we are greeted by a huge statue of Laughing Buddha (Budai).
What a wonderful way of welcoming positive energy into the place. 
I love the high ceiling and the natural lighting which gives a spacious, light and airy feeling.
It's a great place to have a meal with friends.

The food was tasty but not exceptional.

Bright colored melamine bowls give a slightly Asian feel and add charm to the atmosphere. 

You can smell the incense burning as you walk in.
