Misky Cravings Peruvian Cuisine, Fairfield Heights

Ceviche Pescado
Boneless and skinless diced fish marinated in lemon juice, garlic, chilli and seasoned
with Peruvian spices and herbs, served with corn, red onions, lettuce and sweet potato.

It was a delightful surprise to find this little Peruvian restaurant tucked away in Fairfield.
I have never tried this cuisine before and have been curious about it for months.
Peru's cuisine reflects on its unique history.
From the Spanish, Incan, African, and Asian, the fusion of different influences truly sets it apart.

Ceviche is Peru's most popular dish, certainly a must-have when you visit. It's simply delicious!
It reminds me of "kinilaw" or "kilawin", a Filipino dish where seafood is marinated in vinegar, or "calamansi" (a local citrus fruit). Similarly, the raw seafood is not cooked on fire.
Raw food has never tasted so good!

Chicha Morado
Sweet and refreshing Peruvian punch made from purple corns
which are boiled with pineapple rind, cinnamon, and cloves.

Causita Frita de Atun
Fried mash potato seasoned with Peruvian spices and filled with tuna,
topped with tangy seafood and mayonnaise.

Lomo Saltado
Strips of beef with onions, tomatoes and traditional spices flambe in high flames,
served with fried chips and rice.
It's an old Lima favourite, a "chifa" (Chinese-Peruvian tradition) dish.

Tallarin Saltado de Carne Pasta
Pasta al dente with chicken sauteed with onions, tomatoes and flamed
with white wine in traditional spices and coriander.

Arroz Chaufa de Pollo
Luscious mix of rice and chicken cooked in traditional Peruvian-style.

Casa Brasil, Brazilian Restaurant and Churrascaria, Petersham

Brazil is a large country and unlike the rest of South America which was colonised by Spain,
was in fact colonised by Portugal.
Brazilian cuisine is a combination of three different cultures, the Portuguese,
the Africans and  the native Indians.
This colourful mixture is the essence of its culture.
You can taste, hear, experience and see this in its food, music and the faces of the people.

Brazilian barbecue or churrasco is a meat lover's dream.
What's not to love about churrasco especially when you are craving for meat.
Be prepared to be overwhelmed with choices...
