Nahm, Bangkok

Australian-born chef David Thompson, considered the world's leading Thai food expert is the man behind the success of Nahm, which is consistently ranked among the finest restaurants in the world. It's not voted "Best Thai Restaurant in Bangkok" for nothing. David Thompson has been one of my favourite chefs, hence Nahm ranks high on my list of restaurants to try in Bangkok

Too afraid to miss out, I always book restaurants months in advance when I travel. Oh, the anticipation of the flavours to come. Nahm's rave-worthy dishes, astonishing flavours, excellent service and beautiful surroundings really made our experience unforgettable. Be warned though: if you cannot handle spicy-hot food, this may not be for you.

A beautiful huge lotus leaf sculpture sits in front of this chic upscale hotel.

Amuse-bouche: Ripe pineapple topped with palm sugar, pork, chicken, shrimp, crushed peanuts, shallots, garlic, cooked until dark brown.
This dish is what Thai food is all about, it's a balance combination of sweet, salty, sour, spicy and bitter. It's like yin and yang.
