Yebisu Izakaya, Sydney

My love affair with all things Japanese continues to grow.
It has only been two months since I came back from my holidays in Tokyo
and one of the first things I miss dearly is the food.
So we decided to try this funky-looking Japanese restaurant with touch screen ordering system that is conveniently located at the heart of Sydney CBD. There's plenty of dishes to choose from but once the order is made it cannot be cancelled.Turns out it was an excellent choice to have your Japanese food cravings satisfied.

Rahmen Genki, Artarmon

One of the good places to get your ramen fix is here in this nice little suburb of Artarmon.
We came on a weekend and this place was packed and we had to wait in line.
Nothing fancy about this place, dishes are reasonably priced, food tastes delicious,
staff is friendly and service is quick.

Hukuya Sushi Bar, Eastwood

First rule you must remember, make a booking.
Secondly, bring cash. My friend first introduced me to this sushi place
and I immediately loved it. It is run by a Korean family but don't let that
put you off because they serve excellent authentic sushi and sashimi.
It's a tiny little place but everyone is wonderful and so was the food.
The place is a must visit for sushi lovers.

As you walk in the door you will be greeted with friendly,
smiling faces of the staff and sushi chefs.

Ume, Surry Hills

Was great to see my mum back in Sydney.
We took her to lunch at Ume and we've chosen to have
the seven course degustation with sake.
This restaurant has been awarded one hat for three years in a row now.
Anticipating great things...

I was thoroughly impressed with their take on combining
traditional and modern elements of Japanese cuisine.
The food here is amazing and so delicious.
Staff was great and attentive.

Gumshara Ramen, (Chinatown) Haymarket

Gumshara Ramen probably has the thickest Tonkotsu Ramen in Sydney.
In Japanese, "ton" means pork and "kotsu" means bone.
Gumshara's broth is incredibly thick, rich and full of amazing flavours.
This broth is made by simmering fresh pork bones and water for hours and hours to release the flavour.
The richness of the soup comes from marrow of bones that contain huge amount of collagen
which is essential in maintaining silky, smooth skin.
Some people may find it too thick but I love it.

You can always request for them to make your soup less thick.
